The Miao are an indigenous group of people in southern China where silver jewellery is an integral part of their cultural identity. The Miao women wear elaborate silver jewellery because they regard silver as a talisman against evil spirits.
This necklace is a modern interpretation of an original Miao pendant found in an antique shop. Hand made in sterling silver by Leo, a skilled silversmith in Bali then cast in brass using the lost-wax-method.
